The worldwide community of museums will celebrate the May 18, 2016 the International Museum Day, with the theme “Museums and cultural landscapes”.

This action aims to extol the role that museums play in society today, by choosing a worldwide theme of reflection to allow a broad discussion about and different points of view. This year the theme lies in the link between museums and cultural landscapes, an interesting topic that will certainly be addressed in very different ways by the Portuguese museums.

In 2015 more than 35,000 museums participated in more than 145 countries.
